15 July 2020 The Parliament of Tonga passed the Traffic Bill 2020 and the Road Bill 2020 after these two bills were debated at the Whole House Committee then read three times at the Legislative Assembly.
After the third reading of these two bills in the House, its became the Parliament Acts waiting for the King’s Royal Ascent.
VPON Media had an opportunity to interview the Minister of Infrastructure and Tourism Hon ‘Akosita Havili Lavulavu who worked on these two bills to discuss her achievement so far in passing these two bills in Parliament.
It is so importance for the people of Tonga to understand the changes that comes with the Traffic Act 2020 particularly the using of seat belt by the driver and the front passenger.
The banned of using the mobile phone when driving so as driver holding baby or young child when driving is also illegal.
