Hon Prime Minister Dr Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa and Katalina Tohi (87.5FM)

12 August 2020 Hon Prime Minister Dr. Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa confirmed through an interview with Katalina Tohi, that all Town Officers and District Officers are moved from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to work under the Prime Minister’s Office.

Hon Tu’i’onetoa claimed that the idea of moving back the Town Officers and the District Officers to the Prime Minister’s Office was accepted by the previous Government but yet to implement or put into effect.

Until the Governor of Vava’u Lord Fakatulolo asked through the Prime Minister and the Cabinet Ministers’ visits that had been made earlier the year to all major Districts around Tonga.

Lord Fakatulolo asked during the meeting that the Town Officers, District Officers, Government representatives and Governors should be better off to work under the Prime Minister’s Office.

This will make it easier and faster for these Government Officers to perform their duties for the people of Tonga better than before including the implementation of the visions and the goals that this Government required in order to help the people of Tonga.

These Officers needed to have a very smooth partnership with the Government and the people in the villages around Tonga which is the way forward.

Hon Tu’i’onetoa emphasized the significance of putting these new concepts into places and allowed everyone to work in hand with these new ways of rebuilding our nation and ensure that no one left behind.
