06 April 2020 One of the issues that were discussed during the briefing of the Journalist by the Minister of Health, was the doctors’ concerned over the Government’s distribution of the $60 million Pa’anga.

The doctors’ concern was reported by the Matangi Tonga on the 3rd of April 2020, claimed that the distribution of TOP$60 million was unwisely allocated.

However, the Minister of Health did not criticise the concerned doctors but instead acknowledge the financial support of the government that her Ministry received so far.

The Minister of Health, Hon Dr Amelia Afuha’amango Tu’ipulotu told the reporters that the Government allocated TOP$3.8 million to her Ministry beforehand to upgrade the Mu’a Clinic and the accommodation at the Taliai Camp should there are any suspect cases of COVID-19.

The funds also allowed the Ministry to order personal protective gears and laboratory diagnostic and testing gears for COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health is currently working on the direction of their 3rd stage health planning in combat against the COVID-19. The Government will be proposed with this 3rd stage planning for their financial support of this proposal.

Overall, the Minister of Health was, in fact, told reporters that the Ministry of Health can always ask more funds from the Government should there be any urgent financial health needs in the future.
