Hon Tevita Lavemaau, CEO Eua Shipping Sosaia hausia, and TDB CEO Leta Kami.

17 August 2020 Hon Minister of Finance Tevita Lavemaau handover a government cheque of $350,000 to the CEO of the ‘Eua Shipping Association Incorporated Sosaia Hausia as a Government’s subsidy for the MV Maui and MV Onemato.

The ‘Eua Shipping Association asked the Government through their Representative to Parliament Hon Lavemaau to financially assist the Eua Shipping Line that is currently struggling with their loan repayments and other operation costs.

MV Maui and MV Onemato are the only ships that commercially travel to Eua and the Hon Minister asked the Government to subsidise the Eua Shipping Association for the overall benefits of the ‘Eua people.

The Government of Tonga usually subsidised the Ships that travel to Niuafo’ou and Niua Toputapu for the benefit of the people.

Sosaia Hausia (CEO Eua Shipping) handover the cheque of $350,000 to the CEO of the Tonga Development Bank Leta Kami to help the loan repayment of their ships.

This is a breath of fresh air for the Eua Shipping and the people of the Eua District as their Shipping loan’s balance to pay is around $0.7 million.
